Lena’s doodling little hearts with crooked arrows all over the fridge and patio door. She waits for Charlie like a cat who already hid the car keys. He steps in, spots the trail, and follows the hearts like they’re bread crumbs he actually wants to eat. Outside she’s leaning on the railing in nothing but a skimpy set of lace and those beige stockings that always make his brain short-circuit.
