Secret Selfies

Serene’s exactly the type of person the name spa promises, and Kenna shows up for her first ever massage like she’s ticking the last box on a good-girl checklist. The second Serene steps away, Kenna’s phone flashes—quick selfies, nothing extreme, just enough to keep her feed happy. When the therapist returns, Kenna drops the towel and stretches out, all long lines and fresh enthusiasm. Serene’s palms move in slow circles, stroking out sighs and soft little sounds, the kind a first-timer can’t quite suppress. After a few passes, Serene slides the towel aside so nothing interrupts the job. Kenna doesn’t object. Phone back out, another angle, another shot. Serene tilts her head. Kenna admits the pics are for fans. She adds, with a grin, that they’d love Serene in the frame too. Serene isn’t convinced about the camera, yet she’s clearly convinced about Kenna—enough that, after the oil warms and skin meets skin, the table becomes a quiet concert of tongues and fingers and swallowed laughter. By the time they come up for air, Serene’s maybe, maybe warming to the idea of one last picture. Just to keep things symmetrical.
