Jogging Her Memory

Serene Siren and Gizelle Blanco walk through the front door together. Serene just got out of the hospital after the crash. Most of her body’s fine, but her brain’s playing catch-up. Bits of her past are missing. She tells Gizelle she still knows the big stuff, work’s okay, and she knows Gizelle’s a good stepdaughter. Small stuff like the name of that burger joint? Gone. Gizelle shrugs like it’s no big deal. “We’ll figure it out a little at a time.” What matters is Serene’s finally home. Then she leans in and plants a kiss straight on the older woman’s lips. Serene jerks back, startled. Gizelle pulls up short, eyes widening. The air suddenly feels awkward. Gizelle sighs, cuts through the silence. They were lovers before the accident, not just stepmom and stepdaughter. Serene’s eyebrows shoot up. She looks Gizelle over, lets the shock settle. Attraction’s definitely still there. Sexual memories? She draws a blank. “You trust me?” Gizelle asks, voice soft but steady. Serene nods. Gizelle steps closer, offers to bring the heat back—one slow stroke at a time, skin on skin, lips trailing, every touch meant to nudge Serene’s memory into place. Her stepmother swallows, a shaky smile curling, heart fluttering between nerves and heat, and whispers a yes.
