Experiencing The Other Side

Codey barrels over to Lumi’s place, bursts in and finds her glued to the couch, sobbing into a mountain of tissues. Turns out her girlfriend of ten years just swapped teams, bed-partner included. Now a man sits where Lumi used to be. She’s convinced she’ll never feel lips, laughs or lingerie again. Codey plants himself next to her, cracks a dumb joke and wraps her up in the kind of hug that could pay rent. Their mouths drift together like two clumsy magnets. They pull back, eyes darting. Codey raises an eyebrow—“You sure?” Lumi’s answer is another kiss, hungrier this time. “Dead sure,” she whispers. Tonight she wants the view from the other side of the field.
