Serene and Lexi were killing time on the couch when Lexi suddenly hissed through her teeth. She muttered something about a knot in her shoulder that screamed if she moved too fast. Serene offered a quick rub and Lexi grinned, shoulders already relaxing at the idea. Serene’s hands landed on the knot and worked it in tight little circles. Lexi moaned under her breath, muttering how stupidly good it felt. A moment later she claimed the ache had jumped to the other shoulder too, so Serene switched sides without missing a beat. Lexi sighed again, then said the pain was sliding lower now. Serene’s fingers tracked it—down the blades, along the spine, right to the swell of hips. When Lexi complained about the awkward angle, they agreed the bed would fix that and headed down the hall. Lexi peeled off every stitch like it was the most natural thing, and Serene blinked but didn’t argue; they’d known each other forever. Oil sat on the nightstand like it had been waiting for its cue. Serene poured some into her palms and went to work on bare skin, kneading shoulders, tracing ribs, cupping breasts until both of them were breathing harder. Lexi tilted her head back for a kiss that tasted like the next step, and Serene leaned into it without a second thought.
