Room Enough For Three

Nicole lets Olive crash after the apartment flood. When Alex swings through town, three bodies end up in one bed and personal space goes out the window. Nicole stares at the ceiling while hands slide under the covers and the blanket moves with every stolen grope. She counts sheep. She counts ceiling cracks. Nothing helps. The wet sounds get louder, the laughter snorts, the bed shakes like a cheap motel headboard. Finally she groans, rolls onto an elbow, and calls the whole bullshit out. The blanket lifts, a grin flashes, and the invitation lands like a joke that might actually be serious. Nicole sits there blinking, sheets twisted around her knees, wondering exactly how much room three girls really need.
