Therapist Penny Barber slides an ink card across her desk. Kenzie Taylor squints, then grins. “Two girls sharing a coffee.” Penny turns the card. “Two girls making out.” Each blot gets the same story. Penny keeps a straight face and tells her the patterns are just random shapes. Kenzie keeps seeing women. The more she talks, the clearer it gets—she’s never let herself notice girls before. Penny says she’s a lesbian and the office is safe ground. Kenzie sits up, cheeks hot. She has to test it. “Can I kiss you?”
